A love of rivers and dedication to strengthening the connection between humans and nature drives Cristina.
A nonformal educator, Cristina is captivated by the wonder and importance of freshwater habitats.
“Rivers connect us and provide for us. At Meyer, I am excited to participate in the movement toward a healthier Willamette River from the perspective of funder. I believe clean water, vibrant natural areas and healthy populations of fish and wildlife should be abundant and available for all people, regardless of background, identity or age.”
Prior to Meyer, Cristina worked for more than seven years as an environmental educator focused on rivers and watersheds, most recently for the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council outside Eugene. She earned a master’s degree in education in 2008. Cristina is also an illustrator and has worked as a freelance graphic designer since 2006. She volunteers as a crew leader with Friends of Trees in the Green Space Initiative, a program to restore native plant habitat along streams and in parks and neighborhoods in the Portland area.
Cristina joined the Meyer crew in 2012.
