Either life is always and in all circumstances sacred, or intrinsically of no account; it is inconceivable that it should be in some cases the one, and in some the other.'
— Malcolm Muggeridge

Mitch is driven by the understanding that making communities throughout Oregon better places for all of us is within reach.

Like many young people, Mitch left Oregon after college but was drawn back by the state’s quality of life, community spirit and career opportunities.

“Oregon has seen dramatic economic change over the last 20 years, resulting in job opportunities for high- and low-income earners alongside a steady loss of critically important family wage jobs. Many of our neighbors have been left out or left behind. To create a vibrant economy with opportunity for all Oregonians — and a safety net for those in need — we must be thoughtful, strategic and carefully scrutinize our public and private investment decisions.”

Mitch has volunteered and served on many local boards including the Portland Business Alliance, Portland Children’s Levy Allocation Committee, Portland State University College Affordability & Success Coalition, San Felipe Humanitarian Alliance, Young Audiences Oregon & SW Washington, Salvation Army Greenhouse and Meals on Wheels. He is also a co-founder of New Avenues For Youth.

Mitch joined Meyer’s board of trustees in 2017.
