Hear me say my name

Violeta believes in the power of community, and in our shared responsibility in taking care of one another, and collectively working to create a just world by centering those who are most impacted.

Her commitment to justice and giving is rooted in love and the values her family and her community have ingrained in her from an early age.

At Meyer, Violeta supports the programmatic work through grants management, communications, collaboration and partner relationship building. She hopes to support internal processes run smoothly and establish relationships with partners who are working to advance justice to serve as a bridge between the community and Meyer.

Her first experience with grantmaking was through her involvement as Co-Chair of the Multnomah Youth Commission’s Youth Against Violence Committee where the committee provided small grants to youth groups seeking to address violence in their community. Since then, Violeta has dedicated her educational and professional journey to supporting efforts working towards dismantling barriers that exist for communities to thrive. She has experience working directly with front-line communities, community organizations and local governments in community engagement, youth development, language justice and housing justice.

Prior to joining Meyer, Violeta worked at a public policy consulting firm, supporting natural resources, housing and transportation projects. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies and a minor in Latina/o/x Studies from Mount Holyoke College.

She enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, visiting art museums, and loves all things music – attending concerts, dancing and learning about music through podcasts.

Violeta joined Meyer in May 2023.
