Ruben is driven by a desire to continue growing. Raised in a low-income, predominantly Hispanic neighborhood, Ruben learned early to recognize disparities in his neighborhood. But thanks to the support of his family, friends and the beautiful game of Fútbol, he overcame adversity to become the first in his family to graduate from college.
When a friend forwarded him an email announcing an accounting position at Meyer, he saw it as a chance to not only start developing himself fresh out of college, but also to be a part of making Oregon a more equitable state.
“Being a part of the finance team gives me the opportunity to help Meyer with their day-to-day accounting and financial activities, to continue the flow of operations that contribute to Oregon’s equity development.”
Before joining Meyer, Ruben volunteered as a soccer coach: at his old school, Richmond Elementary; with Cascade Futbol Club; and recently at Houck Middle School, all in Salem. He also worked with his university to raise funds for elementary schools in the Alvord Unified School District in Corona, California.
Ruben joined Meyer in 2015.
