As a Program Associate, Monica assists in developing and implementing grantmaking strategies, specifically through the Our Empowered Youth portfolio. She works closely with grantees, guiding them through the application process and engaging deeply to understand their needs and challenges. Through this work, Monica hopes to build strong, trust-based relationships with community organizations, advocate for systemic changes in education and contribute to Meyer’s ongoing efforts to create lasting and positive change.

“My mother has been an educator for over 30 years. She has always had a passion for learning and working with children. Her drive and compassion inspire me every day.”

Monica is an experienced grant writer passionate about supporting nonprofit organizations. She’s worked with organizations, including Arts for Learning NW and Steps for Youth, where she played a crucial role in advancing their missions and programming through successful grant proposals. Before Meyer, she had already transitioned into grantmaking with Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC).

In addition to studying Early Childhood Education and working in preschool classrooms for over eight years, Monica is also a trained professional dance artist and teacher. In her spare time, she enjoys dance classes (classical ballet and modern), long walks, urban bike rides and hanging out with her sweet cat, Juan Gomez.

Monica joined Meyer in July 2024.
