Chanta takes heart in the idea that decency and kindness act as bulwarks against forces that divide people and communities.
A background in the museum field introduced Chanta to the art, culture and history of the U.S. It also exposed her to the adversity individuals and families of color face in everyday life. She wants to help empower under-represented and underserved communities to use their voices to create and increase opportunities.
“I do believe cultural institutions and foundations like Meyer are in a position to drive change by connecting people and organizations with differing perspectives and by engaging groups that are most affected by inequity in basic services, education and jobs.”
Before joining Meyer, Chanta worked in the greater Seattle area for 10 years, serving in multiple museum roles at Bellevue Arts Museum, Nordic Heritage Museum and Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience. Her jobs included membership and annual fund manager, capital campaign and planned giving associate, and grant writer and manager.
Chanta brought her A game to Meyer in 2016.
