Equity Illustrated – Design Contest
Often, the word equity is used interchangeably with fairness and equality —but equality isn’t equity.
While equality treats everyone the same regardless of the obstacles they face, equity removes systemic barriers and provides access to resources so that everyone has a chance to be successful.
We know it’s difficult to move toward an equitable Oregon if people don’t understand the meaning of equity. That’s why we’ve partnered with Northwest Health Foundation to sponsor a statewide contest asking Oregon artists to help illustrate the meaning (more so the impact) of equity.

For inspirational purposes we recommend reviewing this blogpost from Mary Quandt and her depictions of equity and equality.
Can you help us illustrate the difference between the two?
